The Accounting and Finance Project Manager m/f/d is responsible for overseeing all accounting and reporting activities for our manufacturing facility in Wetzlar & Mannheim as well as leading projects to improve compliance of finance processes and increase efficiency of accounting operations in Europe

This position reports to the Director Finance EMEA and is part of the Finance Service Center Europe located in Wetzlar, Germany and will be an on-site role .

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Lead month-end closing activities including journal entries preparation and account reconciliation.

• Prepare financial statements for corporate reporting as well as for yearly local statutory accounts.

• Develop standard tools and processes to enhance compliance level with internal control requirements

• Lead the integration into the Finance Service Center Europe of the accounting activities of new acquisitions

• Drive finance system improvement actions to streamline accounting operations

The essential requirements of the job include

• Certified financial accountant with solid knowledge of local German accounting principles (HGB) or equivalent education (master’s degree in finance & accounting)

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial accounting with general ledger responsibility in an international corporate environment

• Management of external and internal finance audit processes

• Active contribution to finance projects, ideally with significant implication of the IT systems or experience as key user for the finance module of an ERP

• Fluent in German and English

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Usage of SAP as ERP system

• Knowledge of US GAAP accounting norms and SOX internal control process
