IgniteAction, a joint venture between Ignite and ActioNet has an immediate opening for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Data Center Technician to support the daily operations of our data center environment. This role is ideal for candidates looking to start or grow their career in IT infrastructure, with opportunities to learn hands-on skills in hardware installation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and physical/logical infrastructure maintenance. The ideal candidate will be dependable, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
- Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage, and networking hardware.
- Perform regular data center walk-throughs to ensure environmental stability (temperature, power, cabling, etc.).
- Respond to tickets and incidents related to hardware, cabling, and connectivity issues.
- Assist with racking, stacking, and cabling of new equipment.
- Monitor system alerts and escalate issues to senior technicians or engineers as needed.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of equipment and components.
- Follow safety, security, and compliance procedures within the data center.
- Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours support as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or certifications in IT/Networking is a plus.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, networking concepts, and operating systems.
- Ability to lift, rack, and move equipment (up to ~50 lbs).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, if required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or related certification.
- Experience working with ticketing systems and/or monitoring tools.
- Previous internship, co-op, or hands-on lab experience in IT or data center environment.
- Technical aptitude with eagerness to learn and grow.
- Dependable and able to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
