Your role at Dynatrace
As Team Captain at Dynatrace, you care for an Engineering Team, its individual team members, and their talents, strengths, and creativity so that they’re leveraged to maximum effect. You also have the opportunity to continue growing and developing technically as a software engineer, being able to contribute to architecture discussions and complex implementations. You foster teamwork and cultural attributes, help others drive value creation and product delivery, and support Managers of Software Development with formal tasks that concern the Engineering Team and the needs of individual team members. You look after raising the quality bar of the team. In a nutshell, you’re the leader of the engineering team.
As Team Captain you will:
• Handle 1on1 sessions with all team members (mentor and help them find the right path to grow in Dynatrace)
• Organize team-building events to increase team bonding
• Encourages and empowers the team to improve and implement changes to become their best version
• Ensure knowledge sharing, performance, communication, and motivation within the team
• Conducts interviews and assesses the suitability of candidates
• Ensure the team is organized and structured in alignment with the capability goals and team / individual needs
• Work closely with the Manager regarding team structure (assess readiness and drive the formal promotions process), performance, and the engineering quality bar.
As Senior Software Engineer you will:
• Build, deliver and be responsible for critical and most challenging features and components throughout their lifecycle
• Ensure adherence to best practices, quality of code, and design principles
• Advise in architectural decisions and drive complex system refactoring efforts
• Make software design decisions and identify potential issues and risks
• Collaborates with key stakeholders effectively to solve problems and drive decisions
• Improves craft as an engineer and as a professional and widens horizon beyond current assignments, seeking to learn from peers, feedback, and observation, as well as from trainings and technical literature
• Mentors less experienced engineers; is approachable and supportive
What will help you succeed
Technical study in Computer Science or a similar field
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer
• Excellent Typescript and React knowledge as well as hands-on experience with Java
• Able to distinguish the good, the bad, and the ugly regarding engineering practices and provide feedback
• Hands-on team player with excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ideally, you have proven experience in mentoring, onboarding, and leading a team of (senior) software engineers.
• Ideally, you have experience with cloud native environments and Backstage, an open-source framework for building developer portals
• Knowledge about coding assistant (for example Copilot), MCP, AWS Bedrock, or IDE plugin development is a plus
• Experience with LLM prompt engineering and integration of agentic AI technology is a plus

Please be aware that we offer only employment contracts, and we are considering a hybrid working setup (2/3 days per week in the office).
Due to legal reasons, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary for this position, which is € 74,000.00 gross per year based on full-time employment. We offer a higher salary in line with qualifications and experience.
