Your personal sphere of influence:
As a university assistant predoctoral, you will complement the research team of Alwin Köhler. You will work on tardigrade extremotolerance. The group is based at the Max Perutz Labs, a joint venture of the University of Vienna and Medical University of Vienna located within the Vienna BioCenter Campus, a leading hub for molecular biology research.
What sets our team apart is its international and collaborative spirit, bringing together scientists from diverse backgrounds to advance cutting-edge research in molecular biology.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
o Contribution to a research project regarding tardigrade extremotolerance.
o You work on your dissertation and its completion.
o Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations.
o Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
o Involvement in the organization of meetings, conferences, symposia.
o You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
o Supervision of BSc and MSc students.
This is part of your personality:
o Successful VBC PhD program Selection or similar international PhD Selection required.
o Practical experience in handling and genetically manipulating non-model organisms o Experience in genetics and cloning o Experience with advanced bioinformatics tools.
o High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing.
o Computer literacy (MS-Office; Imaging Software).
o Basic experience in academic writing.
o Didactic competences / experience with e-learning.
o Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level).
o Ability to work in a team.
o Knowledge of university processes and structures.
What we offer:
Employment duration:
The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible.
Fair salary:
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc). The basic salary of EUR 3714,80 (on a full-time basis) increases if we can credit professional experience.
