University assistant predoctoral Completion Contract

The Doctoral School of Oskar Morgenstern (https://oskar-morgenstern-doctoral-school.univie.ac.at/) founded in 2023, provides a cutting-edge scientific training for doctoral candidates in all fields of economics and business studies. It aims at attracting excellent students from all over the world and guides them towards research at the forefront of economics and business studies in a vibrant and dynamic community in the heart of Europe.

The OMDS offers a 6-months Completion Contract for fellows of the OMDS who have held a position as University Assistant (predoc) or a PhD position at the University of Vienna before. This Completion Contract aims to support a highly qualified fellow in the final phase of his:her doctoral studies. The recipient will be employed as University Assistants (predoc) and will work at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

• You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of Operations Management and Production Logistics

• You meet and consult with your supervisor(s) on a regular basis in order to priorities your tasks and to get the necessary support to complete your dissertation successfully in time.

• You participate in your department's and the `OMDS' activities and workshops.

• You participate in conferences and publish research results in peer-reviewed journals

General expectations:

• Above-average MA or equivalent in a field of study relevant for the respective position
• Excellent academic and study record
• High level of motivation and commitment to successfully complete your doctoral studies within the anticipated time frame
• Collaborative, team-minded and pro-active attitude
• High level of written and oral communication skills
• Experience with the structures of the University of Vienna

The OMDS seeks to fill one position which requires the following specializations and skills:

• Your dissertation addresses production scheduling problems in which workers and machines are simultaneously required to complete each production step.

• You are experienced in variants of dual-resource-constrained problems and have published research in this field.

• You possess excellent knowledge of constraint programming and evolutionary algorithms for scheduling.

• You hold a Master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Operations Research and Business Informatics.
