Research Associate Building Technology and Process (IBP) 60 - 80 %

School: School of Architecture, Design and Civil Engineering
Starting date: 1st of November or by agreement. The position is initially limited to one year, with the possibility of extension up to 2.5 years.

• Contribute to the design and development of an innovative reuse concrete system
• Develop and refine connection design strategies
• Support connection design through analysis, simulations, and preparation for experimental testing
• Contribute to planning, executing, and evaluating laboratory tests, integrating results into design improvements.
• Prepare design documentation, technical drawings, and project reports.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners to transfer knowledge into practical applications.

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline), with focus on structural design, or corresponding Bachelor's degree with additional professional practice experience
• Experience in structural analysis, including analytical and numerical modelling (finite element analysis); experience with Ansys or Abaqus is an advantage.
• Familiarity with experimental structural testing, including laboratory work and specimen preparation for load tests is an advantage.
• Experience in developing structural concepts, and interpreting experimental and numerical results.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken); German is an advantage.
• Good skills in scientific writing and documentation for preparing reports, publications, and presentations.
• Interest or experience in scientific methodology, qualitative research methods, and field research.
• Interest in sustainable and circular construction methods, and innovation in planning and construction.
• Ability to work independently and in transdisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, and industry partners.
• Self-motivated, structured, and collaborative, with good communication skills.
