The opportunity
Join a dynamic research team shaping the future of energy systems. You will explore how renewable energy, smart grids, and sector coupling are transforming power systems worldwide. This 10 - 12 months internship offers a unique chance to contribute to next-generation solutions while developing your skills in a supportive and flexible environment. You’ll work closely with experts across business units and gain valuable insights into innovation and sustainability.
How you’ll make an impact
Perform market analysis on renewables and smart grid topics
Derive system and product requirements based on the market analysis
Define high-level functional architectures for future solutions
Simulate future energy scenarios and technologies
Model emerging technologies across power system levels (e.g. DC grids, electro-mobility, energy storage, electrolyzes and fuel cells, demand response, etc.)
Develop, maintain and document new techno-economic assessment tools for simulating behavior of energy systems on different time scale
Build future energy scenarios on regional and global scales
Your background
Currently pursuing an M.S. degree in electrical engineering or completed a similar M.S. degree less than 12 months ago
Familiar with optimization solvers (e.g., Gurobi) integrated into simulation workflows developed in MATLAB and Python
Experience with renewable energy and smart grid technologies, solutions, and concepts, combined with proficiency in power system analysis tools such as PowerFactory, PSCAD, or similar
Good communicator in English, both in writing and speaking
Background in the following power system topics: steady-state and dynamic stability analysis and model-ling, fault analysis and power system protection, energy and ancillary service markets
Self-starter with a strong willingness to learn, capable of working independently while also being a reliable and collaborative team player
