Position: Partner & Head of Tax
Location: Zurich

Job objective

Partner & Head of Tax will lead and develop the firm’s tax practice, providing strategic, transactional, and regulatory tax advice to domestic and international clients. The role is responsible for growing the practice, maintaining the highest quality of legal service, and positioning the firm as a market leader in corporate, fintech, private equity, and cross-border tax matters.

Responsibilities

Areas of Expertise:

  • Corporate taxation: Direct and indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and operational taxation.
  • Individual taxation: Tax and estate planning for high-net-worth clients.
  • Regulatory taxation: FATCA, QI, CRS, DAC 6, and other international compliance requirements.

Practice Leadership:

  • Lead, grow, and manage the tax practice, including development of tax lawyers.
  • Define strategic objectives and ensure the practice achieves its growth and profitability goals.

Client Advisory & Relationship Management:

  • Provide expert tax advice in corporate, M&A, private equity, fintech, and cross-border transactions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with high-value clients and industry stakeholders.
  • Represent clients before tax authorities and in negotiations with regulatory bodies.

Business Development & Market Positioning:

  • Drive business development initiatives and pursue new market opportunities.
  • Represent the firm in industry events, publications, and thought leadership activities.
  • Collaborate with partners across practice areas to deliver integrated client solutions.

Regulatory & Compliance Expertise:

  • Ensure compliance with Swiss and international tax laws and regulations.
  • Advise clients on evolving legislation, financial innovation, and regulatory matters.

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee delivery of high-quality, efficient, and profitable tax services.
  • Set and track performance metrics, budgets, and revenue targets for the tax

Requirements

Education:

  • Swiss bar admission with first-class legal qualifications.
  • Swiss Certified Tax Expert ("diplomierter Steuerexperte mit eidgenössischem Diplom”)
  • Excellent academic credentials in law (Master’s degree or PhD).
  • Additional specialization in business law, financial law, or tax law.

Professional experience:

  • 10 + years of proven work experience as a tax advisory, preferably in a Partner role in a law firm, auditing firm, or senior level in-house tax department of bank or asset management companies

Languages:

  • Stylistically confident, appropriate English and German
  • Additional languages (e.g. French, Italian) are an asset

Cognitive and analytical skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-first mentality
  • High level of integrity, professional credibility, and discretion
  • Results-oriented, proactive, and resilient under pressure
  • Charismatic and confident, with the ability to represent the firm at conferences and industry forums
  • Collaborative team player with an inclusive leadership style

Leadership skills:

  • Established client network and ability to attract new mandates (existing book of business is a strong plus)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the capability to build and grow
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of legal professionals
  • Experience in internal knowledge sharing, thought leadership, and promoting best practices
