ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Expert Group is a retail alliance in the Technical Consumer Goods sector with members operating retail in 23 countries in Europe, Kazakhstan and South Africa. The group was founded in 1967 and is the third biggest Technical Consumer Goods retailer in Europe with turnover of around €15bn. Expert International GmbH (www.expert.org) has the task to support the development of the group and to represent shared interests of the members of the Expert Group towards international suppliers and other business partners and stakeholders. The team currently consists of 8 people.

ABOUT THE JOB

Goal of the position

To successfully manage all financial topics for Expert International, also in relation to all the countries in the Expert Group and international suppliers and business partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset accounting
  • All payment processes, cash handling, and expense management
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks. Annual budgeting with the Managing Director
  • Reporting, controlling and invoicing of commission from international suppliers
  • Calculation and invoicing of member fees
  • Responsible for payroll, social insurance, pension, VAT refunds, submitting tax declarations, etc.
  • Serve as the primary contact for banks, service providers, auditors, group members and business partners in all finance related topics
  • Support the Managing Director in office management, staff and IT related topics

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in financial accounting or controlling
  • Reliable, independent and detailed way of working
  • Good communication skills. The ability to build relationships with different people from different cultural backgrounds. Fluent in German and English
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Hands on attitude – able to manage the different aspects of the company’s finances. Willing and able to learn and take on additional tasks
