Tasks
Your Mission
As a (Senior) Cloud Engineer at Xelon, you play a central role in ensuring that our cloud infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure. You help design, implement, and maintain automation pipelines, manage environments via infrastructure as code, and work closely with software provider and operations teams to enable smooth service delivery.
This is a hands-on, impact-oriented role where your contributions will directly influence cloud platform consumers, service quality, and platform stability.
Your Responsibilities
Operations and Automation
- Assure smooth operations through carefully planned and conducted releases and structured maintenance process
- Automate using modern pipelines solutions following GitOps principles (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, FluxCD)
- Use Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g. Terraform/OpenTofu, Ansible) to manage cloud platform
- Maintain consistent configurations across environments
Monitoring, Logging & Observability
- Operate and assure full observability coverage using solutions (e.g. Prometheus/Loki/Grafana, OpenSearch)
- Define alerting standards and incident management workflows
- Enable teams for self-servicing and consuming of observability data
Security & Compliance
- Integrate security solutions (e.g. WAF, IDS/IPS, DDoS protection)
- Ensure that deployments meet compliance and security requirements
- Collaborate with security officer and software provider on secure configurations
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Write and maintain technical documentation for deployments and infrastructure
- Share knowledge and tooling insights with the team
- Participate in troubleshooting and incident response processes
On-call & Escalations
- Participate in OpsGenie/ITMON rotations (1 week per month); update escalation policies and validate alert routing.
Requirements
Your Profile
- 4+ years of experience in Platform, DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer roles
- Senior level in Linux systems administration and scripting
- Familiarity with the modern networking technologies
- Familiarity with the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and FOSS cloud software solutions (OpenStack, CloudStack)
- Proven expertise in virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware vSphere, KVM, Proxmox or Hyper-V) and managing virtualized infrastructure at scale
- Strong competence in containerisation solutions (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker)
- Experience with the storage solutions (SAN, NAS, SDS offerings like Ceph, Simplyblock, Longhorn)
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools
- Familiarity with monitoring and security tooling
- Systematic, structured approach and collaborative, team player mindset
- Communication: fluent in German and English.
- Location: based in Switzerland (hybrid/onsite as needed), able to participate in on-call.

- Experience with OpenStack, GitOps workflows
- Experience with GPU workflows
- Background in software development (Go, Python, Java)
- Certifications (e.g., CKA, Terraform Associate, RHCE)
- Experience in regulated industries (finance, health, govtech)
- Fluent in Swiss-German
