Über uns
Dürfen wir uns vorstellen?
Anarkik3D Ltd http://www.anarkik3d.co.uk/ specialises in developing leading edge software applications, remarkable for the phenomenon of ‘virtual touch’ (haptics) and with full sense of a 3 dimensional space, making interaction more intuitive, realistic and immersive.
Own brand 3D haptic product, Cloud9 http://www.anarkikangels.co.uk/, is aimed at both designers, applied artists and artists for conceptual work and ‘quick and dirty’ 3D modelling, and at enthusiastic amateurs wanting an easy to learn and use 3D creative package and access to 3D printing (to make the virtual tangible). It is very inclusive and un-CAD-like, fun to work with and an excellent tool to formulate and externalise the wildest ideas before having to think of practicalities. This application offers a new way of working where 3D modelling and generating 3D digital content can benefit from fluid creation of concept models without flow being overly disrupted.
Anarkik3D’s main principles are that applications be very easy to learn and use, and also be fun. Touch technology and 3D interaction taps into and makes use of our inherent tacit knowledge so less adaption is required. Combined with the risk free environment that digital applications offer, Anarkik3D’s products provide a very exciting, more immersive experience to facilitate tasks.
These principles are illustrated within a range of demonstrators to provide the experience of touch in as much context as possible:
• stereovision and physics for real-time manipulation of models (keyframe capture and in-betweening),
• natural effects such as collision and compliance,
• quantifying subjective qualities experienced through touch for use in manufacturing
• features mark out / mapped on touchable planes easily moved fluidly, swiftly through semi transparent object to pinpoint internal features profiled on planes. (e.g.: for Oil & Gas sector, Medical)
• easy coherent navigation and avatar control in 3D in Virtual Worlds
• haptic sketch/modelling for creating compatible ‘prims’ /objects for exporting into Virtual Worlds (Secondlife, OpenSim).
In 2007 Anarkik3D Ltd spun out of research at Edinburgh College of Art carried out in collaboration with The University of Edinburgh. The focus for development is creating affordable haptic immersive applications using a range of haptic devices to access to the benefits of 3D touch for working, learning and interacting more effectively and pleasurably.
Anarkik3D is one of few commercial UK companies developing for haptics, specifically force feedback. Anarkik3D has the creative/new technology mix, plus passion for a people-centric approach, to design and develop exciting, differentiating and very usable applications as both own brand, branded and bespoke products.
In September Anarkik3D was included in The Guardian’s 100 Tech Media Invest 2009 List and as one of a selected 50 invited to present to investors.
Anarkik3D was one of 10 showcase companies to be highlighted at the Government’s Invest Summit in November 2009 where invited leading figures from the investment community discussed how to strengthen the UK's competitive position in new technologies to create sustained economic growth and support high tech business at all stages of their development.
As recipient of a SMART Award (2007-2008), R&D is central to Anarkik3D and product development. IP includes Patent license, core haptic/HCI software library, copyright in computer code, and know-how. With the market for haptics at tipping point Anarkik3d is well positioned to exploit opportunities for growth.
Managing Director/CEO, Ann Marie Shillito, is a practicing designer maker at leading edge using materials and technologies ‘new to jewellery industry’ (e.g. titanium/laser cutting/computer aided design/3D printing). As a research fellow at Edinburgh College of Art (1999 to 2009) she was Principal Investigator on both the research project that generated the Company’s core technology (Tacitus) and on the Proof of Concept Award Project. She is a founder of Anarkik3D, bringing unique knowledge and understanding of the creative sector, manufacturing processes and the value of user centred development to the Company to develop a novel concept in computer aided conceptualisation.
Senior Engineer, Xiaoqing Cao, uses her extensive knowledge in research and development to plan and direct software development and has proven highly adept at building and demonstrating the sophisticated technologies at the heart of the Anarkik3D products. She is also a founder of Anarkik3D and combines computer software engineering with practical artistic aesthetic.
