One of America’s most esteemed performing arts summer training programs, Broadway Theatre Project (BTP) has shown hundreds of young dancers, singers, and actors how to develop and enrich their talents. Founded in 1991 by Broadway veterans Ann Reinking and Debra McWaters, BTP employs an intensive, total-immersion approach to performance arts training and hosts teenagers and young adults for three weeks each July. Based at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Broadway Theatre Project offers promising talent a chance to work with and receive critique from some of the best-loved names in dance, theatre, film, and television, while learning indispensable lessons in the process. With a student-to-faculty ratio of three-to-one and more than 50 highly qualified instructors on campus, BTP helps ensure its outstanding training experience by accepting only 150 aspiring performers each year. In addition, Broadway Theatre Project has featured talks and master classes from such legends as Tommy Tune, Julie Andrews, Savion Glover, Charlotte d’Amboise, and recent Co-Artistic Director Ben Vereen. Former students of the program include stage and screen actors Patrick Wilson and Ashley Brown.

In the spirit of immersion education, Broadway Theatre Project students remain on campus for the duration of the program and, as a result, develop close bonds with faculty members and fellow performers. For the final three days of the program, students perform ensemble Broadway revue pieces for friends and family at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, representing the culmination of one era and the beginning of another.
