The coolest things you can do with Nest and Philips Hue By Luke Simmons Posted October 21, 2015 In CloudRail 2 Linking the Nest API with the Hue API allows you to create amazing things. It also regulates itself to save on your energy bills. The Hue system of lights can react to stimulus from programs or smart phones to turn on and ...

Everyone, us, says that The Internet of Everything will change the world. The thing is… a lot of people also talk about simple things that are possible. Hooking up to the Nest API and changing thermostats. Having your emails read by your toaster. This kind of thing doesn’t get to the core of how the Internet of Everything can change the world. For example: IoE Projects with social impact on the Roads: We’ve talked about this before, but with the Internet of Everything, roads become a lo...

The Internet of Everything (and the Internet of Things) has one massive problem. It is next to impossible for developers to integrate multiple devices into their application. Each device has something known as an application program interface (or API) that allows developers to write code to interact with, or read data from, the product or service. But yet, it’s not possible to integrate every device in code in the same way. If you don’t know about coding, the best way to think about this is i...

The Difference Between IoE and IoT The main concept to consider, when thinking of the Internet of Everything vs Internet of Things, is that “Things” are physical objects. What this means is that anything that has a real life presence, such as a computer, mobile phone, smart watch, or even a Nest, can be regarded as a “Thing.” One of the most common thoughts when thinking about Internet connected devices are items that can be interacted through an Internet connection, such as automatically ch...

The Internet of Things (IoT) will change the world. Once every device is talking the same language, developers will be able to connect systems that, while dumb alone, become smart once they can share knowledge with everything else connected to the net. So, what is possible? How about: 1. Health IoT Use Cases Brought to life in the television show Humans, the medical industry has what is possibly one of the greatest IoT use cases. Medical monitoring. It is often that doctors will recommend...

From agriculture to fitness to the smart home and much more, the Internet of Things is everywhere. Among tech buzzwords, Internet of Things is currently one of the favorites ( Big Data is up there too). But the Internet of Things or IoT is not really an industry and is more of a theme with IoT companies attacking a wide variety of industry challenges. CBInsights put together a map of IoT startups that are attacking different industries. While companies like Lockitron and Canary aim to automa...

ABIresearch, a leading market research firm, recently forecasted that IoT data will exceed 1.6 zettabytes by 2020. This is a 7x increase over last year’s 200 exabytes forecast. “The data originating from connected products and processes follows a certain journey of magnitudes,” explained Principal Analyst Aapo Markkanen in a press release. “The yearly volumes that are generated within endpoints are counted in yottabytes, but only a tiny fraction of this vast data mass is actually being captur...
