ESC is well experienced in the design of control systems and robotics and in the field of prototype manufacturing. We specialize on electronics, especially in embedded microcontrollers including DSPs (Digital signal processors) and FPGAs, data transmission and microwave high frequency applications. ESC can handle complete product developments, product modernization or only give advice or consultation in the field of data communications and microwave high frequency circuits.

We point out:

1. Industrial applications

o Safety-related applications (Class B) in nuclear industry – ESC has delivered software for chillers used in nuclear industry for chilling water in the secondary circuit of a nuclear power plant. Verification of the software product was conducted according to the internal Software Requirements. Validation of the software product was conducted according to the Customer Requirements. As a supportive tool to automate the software validation and verification, a PLC test-bed was used to imitate the behaviour of the system in real time with automatic, complex simulation. Requirements are validated and evaluated graphically. The software complies to the safety standards IEC 61508, IEC 62138 and RCC-E.

o Prototype design & manufacturing, robotics, control systems, RF applications; all including the embedded control software, e.g.:

 Uniaxial robot used in manufacturing line, designated to contactless imprinting with inkjet printing head (Max velocity of moving the head is 4m/s; Max acceleration is 20m/s2).

 Terminal X-CONTROL - control unit for commanding of production procedures.

 Control system for compacting machine – complete redesign of control electronics for a compacting and cutting machine 5TI-1032 with maximal power 750 kW, installation and commissioning carried out under full operation of the machine (max. 4 h interruption)

2. Airborne UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles)

o Control avionics for military aerial targets UAV

o On-board system for reconnaissance and monitoring UAV planes

o Collision avoidance system for UAVs (demonstrator)

3. Space projects

o Solar Orbiter Mission - STIX instrument - space qualified flight software (Instrument Start-up and Application Software) - Mission critical SW. Both PROM and in-flight re-programmable SW is criticality class B. (academy/PRODEX; M-class ESA scientific mission).

o SWARM – Earth magnetic field survey mission (Earth Observers Programme, ESA) – space qualified flight software – ACC instrument software – Start-up SW in PROM is Mission critical SW approved by ISVV (Criticality class B) and Application SW (Criticality class C)

o OBCP-BB – space qualified flight software – Requirements and I/F definition for future OBCP building block. The on-board control procedures engine is one building block of the Future modular reusable/reference on-board SW architecture intended for spacecrafts, in real missions criticality class B or even A. (ESA/GSTP; prime: GMV, partner: Space Applications).

o OBSW-RAC – space qualified flight software – On-board software reference architecture consolidation. On-board software reuse in a systematic manner, following activities COrDeT and Domeng (ESA/GSTP, prime: SSF, partners: TAS-F, Terma, ASTRIUM Satellites SAS). The reference SW architecture is planned for spacecrafts (in real missions criticality class B or even A).
