International education for a successful future at Leipzig International School
Leipzig International School (LIS) is a non-profit co-educational day school for students from age 1 to age 18, who are part of Leipzig's diverse international community.
More than 900 students from 70 countries attend LIS and the Leipzig International Kindergarten, with the most represented nations after the host country being the United States of America, Japan, United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. Leipzig International School employs over 190 staff members, from 20 different nationalities.
At Leipzig International School the language of instruction is English. English as a foreign language is available to those who need it. German is taught both as an additional language and in standard classes following the State curriculum. Additional Student Support Services (learning support, medical, careers) and varied counselling services are also available to all LIS students. Two in-house nurses provide immediate care and health education. There are no cancelled school lessons at Leipzig International School, as LIS works with qualified substitute teachers.
The educational concept with small classes enables optimal development of children’s social intellectual and creative potential. A school change between Leipzig International School and elementary or middle school or a state high school is possible not only in the earlier school years, but also later, for example after a year abroad.
