Line managers need “multi-skills” as well. For example, an outsourcing manager has a job that involves skills in negotiation and contracting up front, setting performance goals and standards, relationship management, (virtual) teamwork, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. That would be about six different courses under the training or academic discipline model…and there would be no clarity on how these disciplines fit together. At MCE we have created one workshop around managing outsourcing, that helps managers manage outsourcing better, practicing and combining all these skills.
Facilitators, not trainers nor professors
MCE works with a team of associates who are experienced senior managers. They have gained their expertise by living it – they have worked in international companies like yours. They may have expertise in a function but they have all had general management responsibility and can see a problem through more than one lens. They have all seen change in business – how to take advantage of the good times and how to reposition yourself during the bad times.
Our associates have been in business long enough to know that most of the problems you see in business are actually symptoms of deeper problems. They are well equipped to identify and address the root problem.
During the workshop, our associates “facilitate” your learning by listening to your issues with the ear of experience. They challenge you on your assumptions, share management tools to help you analyze or solve your problems, discuss the pros and cons of different approaches and find who in the group has experience or expertise to share on a particular topic. And, of course, they push you to come up with a good action plan for solving your issue. Your MCE facilitator acts as a good business mentor throughout the workshop.
Workshops, not courses
MCE has decided to focus very specifically on helping you solve your business problems, and on getting things done. Whether you join us for an open enrolment workshop or whether we work with you on a custom-made solution for your company, the approach is always business focussed. You bring your business issues, you work on it during the workshop with inputs from your facilitator and fellow participants, and you finalize an action plan for implementing your solution on your first day back from the workshop. We believe learning should be practical, not abstract or theoretical. It is about getting things done.

Participants come from a wide variety of countries and industries, each one bringing valuable experience and different perspectives to share.
Management Development Centre
MCE also provides outsourcing services to large and middle-sized companies to implement their own Management Development Centre, Management Academy or Corporate University.

Our associates can work with your managers and executives in One-to-One Business Coaching, focusing very specifically on the one or several business issues they face. Whether it is being accompanied through an acquisition, restructuring, strategy change, or simply personal development, we can help you.
How is MCE different from a business school or training provider?
There are many places you can go to get a course about an academic body of knowledge from someone who specializes in teaching management but has never done it. There is nothing wrong with that, but at MCE we want to offer something different.
Business issues, not skills
Business problems don’t come packaged neatly. And often, you need more than one tool to solve them. So, instead of thinking about separate skill sets, MCE has re-thought and re-designed its entire offer around business issues.
