The ZIM Plant Technology is addressing one of the most important problems of the 21th- century: The increasing shortage of the freshwater reserves. About 50% of food products need artificial irrigation. For that 80% of the consumed freshwater is used. The company ZIM Plant Technology GmbH has developed a robust, field-suitable, user-friendly, versatile applicable probe system which allows highly precise measurements of the water stress state of leafy plants over an entire vegetation period in real time. The ZIM-probe determines the cell turgor pressure, i.e. the “blood pressure” of leaves of plants. The cell turgor pressure is linked closely with the total water supply of the plants. At the present the magnetic ZIM-probe and the associated telemetric data transfer system to an Internet-server is the strategic, patent-protected basis of the company ZIM Plant Technology GmbH.
