Alice Balbo

Project Manager (Projektleiterin) for the Connective Cities project, joint cooperation among GIZ, Deutscher Städtetag and Engagement Global. I am employed by Engagement Global and share my working week between Engagement Global in Bonn and Deutscher Städtetag in Cologne.

• Ensuring the successful implementation of complex multi-partner international projects and partnerships • Identifying and securing funding for new projects, including coordinating, drafting, submitting and monitoring grant and funding proposals (European as well as extra-European) • Support in the development of the Future Cities Catapult’s international strategy • Leading in optimizing the internal stakeholder management system • Representing the Future Cities Catapult in a range of external events

• Coordination with ICLEI's 13 Regional Offices of ICLEI's global work on urban resilience and climate change adaptation; • Strategy input to the Secretary General in the direction to take in ICLEI's Global Program on Resilient Cities; • Management of the Resilient Cities project (www.iclei.org/resilient-cities) and of smaller international projects in the area of urban vulnerability assessment

• Project management: responsible for budget, accounting and controlling of conferences and projects and their implementation • Support in the organization of the Rio+20 Global Town Hall, local government platform at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (June 2012). • Organization of the annual Resilient Cities congress series, global forum on urban resilience and adaptation and related published proceedings. Management of a team of 5 people.

• Coordination of ICLEI's presence at the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) in Copenhagen through the Local Government Climate LOUNGE. Main liaison with partner organizations and in charge of program development and of participant management.
