Supported Ford Supplier Technical Assistance Group using the Ford Global Product Development System (GPDS) Powertrain Supplier Engagement Process. Evaluate linkage and reporting of the external Powertrain supplier APQP and PPAP Readiness Assessment on advanced Powertrain programs. Root caused issues of non-conformance to the adherence of APQP and PPAP deliverables and to powertrain development milestones. Improved SRA reporting and Quality of Events of Powertrain suppliers by 40% in less than 2 months.

Spearheaded the quality initiatives with full responsibility for the managing, planning and implementation of the company’s quality functions for this short-term plant operation. Partnered with former Collins & Aikman, Chrysler, LLC and Mayco International management and engineers to develop a full quality plan to reintroduce the Chrysler 300 door trim panel and provide for a successful customer launch. Quality scope of responsibility included all aspects of quality management, and supervision.

Faced with a unique opportunity to apply supplier quality engineering and launch initiatives from the customer perspective. Teamed with Quality Engineers, Chrysler, LLC Commodity Specialists, Quality Managers and Supplier Quality at IACNA supplier locations to drive successful PSO and launch issue closure. Worked extensively with Dakkota Integrated Systems, LLC, to establish Tier I and II supplier controls for consigned purchased components for I/P.

Lead the Quality Engineering functions for A plant with at least $85,000,000 in gross sales on several customer platforms. Key player for APQP and PPAP for new programs from the design stage to full volume production. Principle contact for quality at customer locations. Managed quality in the Quality Manager’s absence. Rewarded for the single largest gain sharing/material cost savings idea in the history of C&A, Port Huron Plant. Savings worth at least $750,000 over 2 years.

Oversaw both interior trim sunroof module, system, aftermarket and body in white sheet metal stamping, progressive and transfer/fabrication and welding/brazing mainly for General Motors and Ford Motor Company. Brought new programs to initial submission level and maintained them throughout their life cycle. Highlights of this position incorporated body in white surface reviews, teaching SPC and structured problem solving, implementation of SPC on the shop floor, and customer plant launches.

Managed supplier development for a supply base over 100 for purchased components and outside processes such as heat treat, painting and plating. Huron products were primarily precision metal components, screw machine, centerless O.D. grinding products, machining of castings, broaching, CNC machining, bent and brazed tubing assemblies and rotary work centers for secondary machining. Traveled to customer plant locations, primarily engine and transmission plants to investigate complaints.
