CAD Engineer responsible for the PMRS variant of the SV FRES project. This is a joint venture between various defense companies to replace the CVRT vehicles in service for the British Army

Working with the BWT (Brakes, Wheel and Tyre) section. Completion of full vehicle brake system installation for the brand new Euro 6 vehicle project. Liaison with suppliers / assembly manufacture / CAE regarding various concepts. Further design work completed to finalise the pneumatic system on the vehicle. Vehicle currently in Prototype phase.

Working as part of the ID&C (Integration, Design and Certification) Team for the LTCIS (Libyan Tactical Communication Information System) project, installation and design of various communication equipment into various defence vehicles within the Libyan Arab Army. All design work carried out using Pro/Engineer WF4 and Windchill PDM-Link 9

Design and development working on 2 main projects, a transmission control unit for Daimler and a chassis control unit for Jaguar Land Rover. Liaison with customer and various suppliers to ensure effective design within timescales. This is mechatronic design of leadframes, injection moulded housing, pressed and casting metal components. All design work carried out using Catia V5

Working within the WLIP (Warrior Lethality Improvement Program) team. This is a long term project that will improve and maintain all warrior fighting vehicles out in combat until 2030. Undertaking various design tasks from vehicle repairs to investigation / concept design in all areas of vehicle including turret designs, cooling package installations, mine blast protection, driver / commander protection devices. All design tasks completed using Pro/Engineer Wildfire 2

Design and development of ECU (Electronic Control Units) for various automotive applications. Working customers including Scania, Geträg Ford and Daimler Chrysler from A-samples to full production units. Design liaison between various suppliers and colleagues based in sister departments in other parts of the world. All design undertaken using Pro/Engineer Wildfire 2

Working within the BWT (Brakes, Wheels and Tyres) design section. Completion of various pneumatic design tasks on various DAF LF vehicles to suit the new Euro IV model range that will be introduced from OCT 2006. Using various Pro/Engineer modules to complete these design task including large assembly / solid modelling, Pro/Sheetmetal, Pro/Piping and the use of Leyland Truck “tree” top down design philosophy.

Working within the off highway department duties included management/design of cooling modules for many prominent OEMs e.g. Case New Holland, CAT, JCB, AGCO and John Deere. Working in conjunction with the customer to complete the design of charge air coolers, radiators, oil coolers and air conditioning condensers to suit their specific needs whilst utilising Denso Marston’s modular manufacturing methods. Working as a part of a team installing radio equipment on various combat tracked vehicles. Working to BAE standards to release information to secondary customers who will use this information to fit the equipment. Using Pro/E for large assembly design which involved most techniques including numerous Pro/Sheetmetal design tasks.

Involved with the set up and implementation of the world’s first truck chassis robotic paint system. Working in a small team to configure Pro/E models into cut sections of chassis or “regions” that would then be used to create robotic paths (using the 3-D CAD information).

Optare design and manufacture coaches/buses for the UK, European and US markets. Responsibilities and achievements include: - ( Pneumatic system design, steering and suspension installation on a new Optare double deck bus chassis. ( Engine installation tasks including air intake system, exhaust system and HVAC installation on the double deck chassis. Houghton Parkhouse design and manufacture livestock transporters and are based in Cumbria. Responsibilities and achievements include: - ( Implementation of new 3-D CAD system in conjunction with database manager to aid production of existing vehicles. The added functionality meant all build information could be generated from the CAD system. ERF Trucks design and manufacture truck and bus chassis that sell into the UK, Europe, South Africa and Australia. Recently taken over by MAN Nutzfahrzeuge (Munich) (1999-2000). Full involvement in two main projects - the ECT tractor and ECM rigids. This comprised of two Cummins engine installations which included air intake, exhaust, water / air-cooling system design. Liaison with suppliers to source prototype and production components.

The 4-year apprenticeship comprised of: Initial off site training to learn basic engineering techniques (welding, bench fitting, machining etc). Commercial training in all departments at ERF to fully understand how the company operates. Final 2 1/2 period working on various projects that included engine installations, steering / suspension work, chassis design. Many design techniques were used to such methods of component manufacture - casting, moulding, fabrication etc.
