Matthew Rich

I work along with Sharon Caldwell in the African Office of the IMC and on behalf of the MF. My work consists largely of research, writing, and editing. We prepare a e-zine called Montessori Leadership Online which goes out to around 20 000 people internationally, as well as various other articles and official document. We also act as advocates for children and the Montessori approach in Africa.

We are passionate about creating a new world where everyone's needs are important and everyone has the skills to make peace. Towards this end we are passionate about working together with a range of individuals and organizations, particularly in the the areas of alternative education, sustainability, and social entrepreneurship. Our approach is influenced heavily by Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication, sociocracy, and Wilber's AQAL approach.

Nahoon Montessori was the first Montessori school in the world to completely democratize and was the only such school in the Republic of South Africa. The school was a space for experimentation and research. It was affiliated to the Alternative Resource Organization, International Montessori Council.

I worked in the teaching and learning centre where I worked with individuals and small groups of students (undergraduate and graduate) to assist them in the development of English language and writing skills, as well as study skills. During the first semester of 2006 I also worked as a tutor in the the faculty of Private Law at the Nelson Mandela School of Law.
