The thesis aimed at channel estimation using Kalman filtering and performance comparison with Wiener filtering for LTE downlink. In LTE, the symbols used for channel estimation suffer from interference from neighboring cells. Novel algorithms using Kalman filtering were developed for channel estimation. Two algorithms combining Kalman and Wiener filtering were proposed to cancel the effect of interference in channel estimation.

Worked in modem algorithm development for LTE. Assigned tasks were as under. -Implementation of 2D Wiener filtering for channel estimation -Implementation of 2x1D Wiener filtering for channel estimation -Implementation of robust Wiener filtering for channel estimation -Investigation and implementation of different strategies for the estimation of channel time and frequency correlation functions in real time scenarios

Goals included implementation of Filter Bank Multicarrier Modulation (FBMC), which is a strong contender for the upcoming 5G networks, in Cooperative MIMO environment and its performance comparison with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) using MATLAB.

Worked in the Broadband Department. Analyzed the infrastructure of broadband communication systems. Also handling and optimization of internet traffic and customers data.

Worked in Process Automation Department. Analyzed design, implementation and software employed in execution and management of projects. Also studied the products and solutions for automation and optimization of industrial processes.

Worked in Optical Fiber Department. Analyzed and worked on the GSM network of Warid Telecom. Also analyzed and studied the optical fiber network of Wateen Telecom.
