Provided wide ranging support in the implementation phase of the Market Intelligence Software system, this included developing and maintaining excel databases, and involvement in health commodity research (literature/grey literature reviews, web based research, etc.). Participated in WHO intern topic discussions and seminars on various topics related to global health.

Worked on a program development project on the implementation of a new Advanced Directives policy, which included conducting a literature search, review and qualitative research. Participated in small group learning sessions focused on aging, clinical issues in geriatrics and gerontology, evaluation techniques and team competences. Developed evidence-based practice skills through compilation of a fact sheet dispelling a myth on aging.

Assisted clients with patient centred education on the use of their prescriptions and over-the-counter medications, and advised physicians, nurses and other health professionals on drug decisions. Conducted MedsCheck consultations with patients on multiple medications for chronic conditions. Delivered a presentation on “Polypharmacy and Discontinuation of Medications in the Elderly”, to pharmacists and pharmacy students to highlight drug safety in geriatric patients.

Assisted Pharmacist with technical responsibilities, including patient intake and data entry of patient information into Kroll and accurate dispensing of medications. Handled phone calls and faxes to ensure clear communication between the pharmacist and other health care providers. Monitored daily shipments, drug inventory and prescription files to help clearly organize information and pharmacy goods.

Developed and implemented a wide variety of day-to-day social and recreational programs to target the resident’s needs and reach their desired goals. Programs were developed to assist with the integration of residents back into community activities, increase physical activity, lower social isolation and improve their overall quality of life. The behaviour and attendance of participants were tracked, and this information was used to target seniors with low participation.
