Biomarker Discovery Scientist (m/f/d) – Basel

Background
The Proteomics & Metabolomics Technology Platform within the 360 Labs Initiative is looking for an experienced, motivated, and collaborative individual to join as a Biomarker Discovery Scientist in Basel. In this role, you will work in a dynamic matrix environment, closely collaborating with experts from various therapeutic areas to identify and validate early biomarkers.

This position offers the opportunity to lead key projects and create real impact in an innovation-driven setting. The role is a one-year, full-time assignment covering a planned parental leave.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop scalable targeted and untargeted protein assays using mass spectrometry (MS) and non-MS-based methods

• Apply these assays to liquid biopsies, tissue samples, and in-vitro models for the identification and validation of disease biomarkers, novel drug targets, and drug mechanisms

• Take ownership of biomarker discovery projects: ensure timely delivery, prepare reports, and present results to stakeholders

• Provide guidance on study design and analytical strategies, acting as a key interface between internal and external partners

Your Profile

• PhD in Biochemistry or a related field

• Ideally post-doctoral experience in biomarker discovery and validation, preferably in biotech or pharma *****

• Biomarker-related expertise acquired during PhD or first industry experience *****

• Strong experimental skills in designing and executing complex studies using MS and preferably also non-MS-based approaches (e.g., Olink) *****

• Proven competency in processing, analyzing, and interpreting MS and ideally also non-MS data *****

• Excellent communication skills with fluency in English

• Customer-oriented mindset, combined with curiosity, creativity, organizational strength, and the ability to implement innovative ideas efficiently

• Duration: 1 year (parental leave cover)

• Workload: 100 %

• Home Office: not possible (lab-based role)
