Role Purpose

As CAPEX Engineering Lead, you are responsible for the successful delivery of CAPEX projects and overall engineering performance at the Basel site. You provide strategic and operational leadership across engineering activities, ensuring high standards in maintenance and equipment reliability, while aligning EHS priorities in coordination with the Local EHS Lead (who retains full operational responsibility).

This role combines people leadership, project ownership, and hands-on engineering responsibility in a GMP-regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an engineering team (approx. 3 direct reports) across mechanical, automation, and utilities
• Adapt team structure and priorities to evolving project and business needs
• Own and deliver CAPEX projects end-to-end (URS, vendor management, FAT/SAT, commissioning, qualification)
• Manage CAPEX investments in the multimillion CHF range (ongoing and upcoming projects)
• Ensure high equipment availability through strong maintenance and reliability strategies
• Oversee engineering documentation, deviations, investigations, and CAPAs in a GMP environment
• Take operational responsibility within engineering and maintenance
• Act as key interface to internal and external stakeholders (Manufacturing, QA, MS&T, Supply Chain, Global Engineering, vendors)
• Provide leadership guidance to the EHS Specialist, ensuring alignment while operational EHS remains with the Local EHS Lead
• Drive continuous improvement, digitalization, and lifecycle management initiatives

Required Competencies & Experience

• Strong technical background in pharmaceutical manufacturing / GMP environments
• Proven leadership experience in a line management role (not a first-time leadership position)
• Solid track record in CAPEX projects, including large-scale / multimillion investments
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to lead experienced teams with credibility and technical depth
• Experience working in complex, regulated production environments
• Fluency in both German and English.
