The Chair of Finance and Financial Economics, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Angelo Ranaldo at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Basel, invites applications for a Research and Teaching Assistant (Hilfsassistent*in).
Start date: September 01, 2026, or by arrangement
Your position
Your primary tasks include supporting ongoing research projects in financial economics and assisting in the preparation of teaching materials. The position requires a minimum workload of 20% (approximately 8 hours per week).Your profile
You are enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field and have a strong interest in financial economics and research. You possess advanced programming skills (e.g., Python, R, or similar) and are comfortable working with large datasets. You have a solid quantitative background, with coursework in Finance and Econometrics considered an asset. You are reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.We offer you
You will be part of a motivated and high-performing team committed to research and teaching excellence, providing an excellent environment for gaining research experience and preparing a Bachelor's or Master's thesis.For highly qualified candidates, a pre-doctoral position (with a higher workload) may be considered. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with a high-performing research team on ongoing projects in financial economics, with direct exposure to data work and empirical research. It is particularly suited for candidates considering a future PhD. Please note that this position does not imply any commitment or expectation of a subsequent PhD position, and the Chair does not anticipate opening a new PhD assistant position before Summer 2028.
