The Position
As a Staff Scientist at the Institute of Human Biology in Basel, you will lead and coordinate pioneering research projects focused on the analysis of organoid single-cell genomic data. In this role, you will perform high-level research within a multidisciplinary team, overseeing computational resources and leading analyses for complex genomic and imaging datasets. You will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of human biology by contributing to high-impact manuscripts and mentoring the next generation of scientists.
Lead computational analyses for single-cell transcriptomics and integrative multi-omic datasets.
Compare in vitro human model systems to primary tissue reference atlases to drive biological insights.
Analyze single-cell perturbation data sets to assess and validate disease models.
Oversee and maintain computational resources for the research group.
Supervise and train PhD and Master’s students, fostering a culture of learning.
Contribute to and lead manuscript writing across multiple high-priority projects.
Apply your knowledge of human neural organoid models to advance our research goals.
Collaborate across the institute to ensure the success of multidisciplinary initiatives.
Who You Are
You are a passionate expert in computational biology who thrives on collaboration and scientific discovery. You bring a strong record of high-impact data analysis and are eager to apply your skills to complex human model systems.
PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in genomics data analysis.
Expertise in accessible chromatin and multi-omic data integration.
Proven track record of developing computational tools or performing high-impact data analysis.
Excellent social and communication skills with fluency in English.
