Our client for this COO search is a cutting-edge CBD cosmetics startup based in Berlin, Germany. They are renowned for their expertise and ingenuity in the European market. Their mission revolves around enhancing personal well-being and balance, offering a range of premium-grade, sustainably sourced CBD products. With a keen focus on quality, their diverse product line spans from CBD oils to hemp cosmetics and wellness products. The brand is deeply committed to minimal environmental impact, adhering to natural, vegan, and cruelty-free production principles. Following a recent acquisition, the startup is in a phase of reorganization and refinancing, ready to embark on its next growth chapter.
Objective of the Role
As the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the chosen candidate will be instrumental in guiding and propelling the company through a pivotal phase of growth and operational excellence. This role demands an individual who can not only navigate but also capitalize on the challenges and opportunities of a startup environment, particularly during a period of reorganization and integration with a new parent company.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic executive with a proven track record in the beauty and personal care industry, preferably with experience in a large corporation. Additionally, a successful entrepreneurial experience is highly desirable, demonstrating an ability to adapt, innovate, and thrive in fast-paced, transformative business landscapes. This profile requires a blend of strategic thinking, operational acumen, and a genuine passion for sustainable and natural beauty products.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the daily operations and coordination of executive teams (including IT, Marketing, Sales, and Finance).
- Developing, implementing, and reviewing operational policies and procedures.
- Assisting the CEO in setting strategic goals and ensuring their timely execution.
- Managing the company’s operational budget and promoting profitability and growth.
- Designing and implementing business strategies, plans, and procedures.
- Establishing policies that promote company culture and vision.
- Overseeing operations of the company and the work of executives.
- Leading employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication.
- Evaluating performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
- Writing and submitting reports to the CEO in all matters of importance.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a COO or a similar relevant role, especially in the cosmetics and FMCG sectors.
- Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, Marketing, etc.
- Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development.
- Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
- Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
- Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field; MSc/MBA is preferred.
