D3Companion is an early-stage startup developing AI-powered
tools for the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry,
aiming to reshape how we design, build, and interact with the built
environment.
Eligibility
This is a Working Student (Werkstudent) position. To be considered, you must be currently enrolled as a student (BSc/MSc) at a university in Berlin or Brandenburg. Applications that do not meet this criteria cannot be considered.
Tasks
Role Description
We are seeking a Computational Designer for a part-time role (20 hours/week) based in Berlin, Germany.
What you will do:
- Develop parametric models and generative design workflows using Grasshopper, Dynamo, or similar tools
- Write scripts (Python/C#) to automate design tasks and extend BIM software capabilities
- Collaborate with developers to prototype and test AI-driven design features
- Create and maintain computational design templates and libraries
- Explore data-driven approaches to architectural and structural analysis
- Contribute to research on emerging computational methods in AEC
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Rhino + Grasshopper
- Experience with Python or C# for scripting in design environments
- Solid understanding of geometry, parametric logic, and design automation
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and data structures (IFC, Revit API, etc.)
- Experience with web technologies (JavaScript, Three.js, or similar)
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts or AI tools applied to design
- Knowledge of structural or environmental analysis tools
- German language skills
