Project Context

For our client in the energy sector, we are looking for a Data Engineer with a strong technical focus on Python-based data integration and API engineering. The role will work closely with portfolio management teams, trading desks, operations, SAP interfaces, and external data partners. The goal is to build and maintain reliable data pipelines and integrations within an Azure-based infrastructure.

Anforderungsprofil

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Python-based ETL pipelines, including time series transformations (pandas)
• Implement and work with REST APIs using Pydantic validation and OpenAPI schemas
• Develop and operate integrations within the Azure ecosystem (e.g., Functions, Key Vault, API Management, Application Insights)
• Implement secure SFTP-based data exchange processes (e.g., using Paramiko)
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, trading teams, and external data providers
• Analyze and communicate technical topics clearly (e.g., schema changes, payload mismatches, integration issues)
• Contribute to documentation for API usage, payload formats, mapping rules, and ETL processes

Requirements

• Strong experience in Data Engineering, Backend Development, or Integration Engineering
• Solid Python development skills and experience implementing APIs
• Experience with ETL pipelines and data integration
• Experience with Azure services and cloud-based data environments
• Understanding of energy market or trading processes
• Experience with secure SFTP integrations and data transfers
• Fluent English, German is a plus

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS (e.g., S3, Athena)
• Experience with SAP integrations
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
• Familiarity with low-code or data platforms such as Dataiku
