Apps enrich people's lives, driven by developers dedicated to creating extraordinary experiences that delight customers. Apple's Worldwide Developer Relations team (WWDR) provides the services, resources and guidance that empower the world's most dynamic developer community to push the boundaries of innovation and bring the next big app ideas to Apple's platforms for customers worldwide. WWDR also offers programs to help developers connect with experts, learn about the latest Apple tools and technologies, and adopt best practices to supercharge app development.
As part of WWDR, Design and Technology Evangelists inspire and help developers create innovative, intuitive, beautiful, platform-native apps and games through design and technical videos, in-person and online events, workshops, and one-on-one consultations.
We are seeking an experienced Design Evangelist to join our WWDR team in Germany.
Description
You will work directly with developers to help them craft exceptional, beautifully designed apps and games for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, visionOS and tvOS. This means collaborating closely with world-class designers, engineers and product managers to help them understand how to design and build best-in-class experiences that leverage Apple's latest design systems, frameworks and hardware capabilities. You will inspire developers to push the boundaries of design innovation while maintaining Apple's commitment to intuitive, delightful user experiences.
A key aspect of this role is understanding how design must adapt and evolve in an AI/ML-driven world. You will help developers consider how machine learning capabilities—from intelligent suggestions to generative features—integrate seamlessly into user experiences while preserving clarity, user control and Apple's design principles. You'll guide developers on designing for adaptive interfaces, personalised experiences and AI-enhanced interactions that feel natural and trustworthy.
Your deep experience shipping consumer apps will enable you to provide authentic, actionable design feedback grounded in real-world product development. You'll engage directly with app creators—designers, developers and product managers—offering strategic guidance on layout, typography, information architecture, iconography, gestural behaviours, animation, UX writing, accessibility and more. You'll translate Apple's design philosophy into practical, implementable advice that helps developers elevate their craft.
You will lead the design component of workshops, developer conferences and outreach initiatives, delivering compelling presentations on Apple's design principles to both technical and non-technical audiences. You'll help developers understand and apply Apple's Human Interface Guidelines within their own contexts, and champion emerging design concepts for new platforms like visionOS and spatial computing experiences.
Evangelism team members are key contributors to the planning and delivery of Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) and Developer Centre events—including leading presentation production, coaching speakers, designing workshops, and managing design labs. You will collaborate across regions and disciplines to amplify Apple's design message and foster a thriving design community. This role involves frequent travel across Europe to engage with developers and support evangelism initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Extensive professional experience in technology, with a focus on interaction, visual and/or product design for Apple platforms.
- Proven track record of designing and shipping multiple consumer apps on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, visionOS and/or tvOS.
- A relevant portfolio of apps and projects.
- Mastery of modern design, prototyping and presentation tools such as Figma, Sketch, Keynote, Principle, After Effects or similar.
- In-depth, practical understanding of the Human Interface Guidelines and the full app development lifecycle.
- Expert-level knowledge of Apple's design systems, design patterns and platform capabilities across all OS platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experienced at presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
- Understanding of state-of-the-art approaches to UI design and evaluation of UI/UX using ML models.
- Awareness of the evolving role of AI and ML in the designer's toolbox and modern design workflows.
- Understanding of the impact of AI/ML on the app development process and how this can be leveraged to help developers build better apps.
- Understanding of how AI/ML capabilities influence design decisions—including adaptive interfaces, intelligent features and maintaining user trust in AI-enhanced experiences.
- Hands-on experience and understanding of user experience design in software engineering and app development.
- Deep understanding of Apple's technology frameworks from a design perspective (SwiftUI, UIKit, RealityKit etc).
- Proven public speaking and presentation skills, including experience presenting at major developer conferences.
- Strategic leadership experience mentoring designers and developers, or leading design initiatives across cross-functional teams.
- Experience designing for emerging platforms such as Apple Vision Pro, spatial computing applications or AR/VR experiences.
- Track record of creating original design education content, thought leadership pieces or developer resources.
- Demonstrated ability to influence product strategy and drive adoption among developer communities.
- German language skills are a plus but not essential.
