Who we are
Helsing is a defence AI company. Our mission is to protect our democracies. We aim to achieve technological leadership, so that open societies can continue to make sovereign decisions and control their ethical standards.
As democracies, we believe we have a special responsibility to be thoughtful about the development and deployment of powerful technologies like AI. We take this responsibility seriously.
We are an ambitious and committed team of engineers, AI specialists and customer-facing programme managers. We are looking for mission-driven people to join our European teams – and apply their skills to solve the most complex and impactful problems. We embrace an open and transparent culture that welcomes healthy debates on the use of technology in defence, its benefits, and its ethical implications.
The role
Join our team and use your product marketing skills to help define and drive the underlying product stories of Helsing. You will be responsible for defining and delivering our product marketing strategy. This is one of Helsing’s most important capabilities and has therefore been owned by our senior management team to-date. You will be in Helsing’s first dedicated Product Marketing role and work very closely with our founders to achieve the desired results. Helsing works in a market with a well-defined number of (extremely senior, and highly influential) buyers. Landing a contract requires a tightly orchestrated campaign bringing along those buyers as well as an ecosystem of stakeholders from end-users, to internal influencers, to industry partners, to politicians. Your work will enable us to tell a product story that is uniquely compelling to each of these different audiences. You will be embedded within the business – primarily within Helsing’s Product, and Programmes & Partnerships divisions. You will deeply understand Helsing’s product offering and be responsible for ensuring that our customers understand its value. Your work will accelerate Helsing to achieve its revenue ambitions across all markets and domains.
The day-to-day
Guiding and owning Helsing’s end-to-end Product Marketing strategy, you will jump right in on day one and work with our product and engineering teams to distil the essence of our technology’s benefits and build product stories.
You will, in parallel, immerse yourself in our customer ecosystem first-hand and work alongside Helsing’s Programmes & Partnerships division to find compelling ways to distil those product stories into offerings that resonate with the different audiences we need to work with. You will ensure this narrative is aligned across all channels and geographies.
With a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, you will help to refine Helsing’s product positioning and feature-level product differentiation. In the medium-term, this will likely extend to devising, testing and launching names for future Helsing products and capabilities.
Communicating the value of our products by creating a range of core materials, you will deeply understand our products and technologies and turn that understanding into condensed, compelling stories and explanations for different audiences.
With the support of graphic designers and other experts where needed, you will develop and design pitch decks, video content, and other supporting product marketing materials that you identify a need for.
As an expert storyteller, you will lead trainings for our Programmes & Partnerships divisions in each market to help them develop their pitch using the materials you have created.
You should apply if you
Are a natural storyteller. You can turn even the most sceptical audience into passionate advocates with a carefully crafted story. You might have learned this skill as a former strategy consultant or as a Founder yourself.
Are a tech native with experience understanding and communicating complex technology to traditionally hardware-focused audiences. You grasp new technological concepts quickly and are the person others turn to for an easy-to-understand explanation. Prior experience in AI/deep learning is not required for this role but an ability to quickly learn and understand it is.
Are a mission-oriented team-player. In a world where you could do anything, you are motivated to use your skills to have a positive impact and are inspired by Helsing’s mission to protect democracies. You seamlessly integrate with both software engineers and industry experts and quickly build trust with the teams you work with.
A self-starter with a strong sense of ownership. You are motivated by a fast-paced environment surrounded by colleagues at the top of their field and have a proven track record of succeeding within one.
An excellent written and verbal communicator. You must have native fluency in English; fluency in German and/or French is an advantage.
Nice to have
A complimentary creative skill, such as copywriting, design or photography
Project management certification
Note: The above bullet points describe the ideal candidate. None of us matched all of these at once when we first joined Helsing. We encourage you to apply even if you believe you meet only part of our wish list, or if you have something different, or extra, that you believe you would contribute to Helsing’s marketing team.
This position may require the successful applicant to apply for and be granted security clearance.
Join Helsing and work with world-leading experts in their fields
Helsing’s work is important. You’ll be directly contributing to the protection of democratic countries while balancing both ethical and geopolitical concerns.
The work is unique. We operate in a domain that has highly unusual technical requirements and constraints, and where robustness, safety, and ethical considerations are vital.
Our work frequently takes us right up to the state of the art in technical innovation, be it reinforcement learning, distributed systems, generative AI, or deployment infrastructure. The defence industry is entering the most exciting phase of the technological development curve. Advances in our field of world are not incremental: Helsing is part of, and often leading, historic leaps forward.
In our domain, success is a matter of order-of-magnitude improvements and novel capabilities. This means we take bets, aim high, and focus on big opportunities. Despite being a relatively young company, Helsing has already been selected for multiple significant government contracts.
We actively encourage healthy, proactive, and diverse debate internally about what we do and how we choose to do it. Teams and individuals are trusted (and encouraged) to practise responsible autonomy and critical thinking, and to focus on outcomes, not conformity. At Helsing you will have a say in how we (and you!) work, the opportunity to engage on what does and doesn’t work, and to take ownership of aspects of our culture that you care deeply about.
