Frequent traveling is required to meet clients and the Innovation Banking coverage team working primarily out of Berlin

The role

We are seeking an ambitious individual to join our GPS Sales Team to cover our innovation banking portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible in driving revenue streams and developing new ones by identifying and selling innovative Cash Management solutions to support our Innovation Banking business in Germany & Austria, contributing to HSBC’s global strategy of connecting fast moving and disruptive clients to our network of international markets

In this role you will

Main Responsibilities

  • Support Innovation Banking Coverage team and the wider GPS Sales teams to identify and develop business opportunities, jointly formulate client engagement strategy to deepen the HSBC cash management wallet globally,
  • Feedback to the GPS Product teams on the competitive market landscape and client specific requirements, to help drive product enhancements and developments as appropriate,
  • Proactively collaborate with global and regional stakeholders to build and develop a deal pipeline that is coordinated with Innovation Banking Team and prioritised according to opportunity and value to HSBC Group,
  • Deepen customer relationships through championing business collaboration with key stakeholders including Global Trade Solutions (GTS) and Markets & Security Services (MSS),
  • Work closely with the GPS Implementation, Integration and Client Service teams to ensure smooth transition of client mandates into realised revenues,
  • Maintain comprehensive sales records in a timely manner within Group CRM platforms to allow tracking of sales performance and sales quality.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Motivate colleagues within the team, align to the overall HSBC vision, values and goals, inspire and engage people to contribute to an inclusive, high performing, customer-centred culture,
  • Contribute to constructive cross-country, cross-regional and cross-business teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management.

Management of Risk

  • Ensure the fair treatment of our customers, which is at the heart of everything we do, both personally and as an organisation,
  • Ensure effective sales suitability management, and manage money laundering, counter terrorist financing, fraud, and reputational risks,
  • Ensure all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring and address any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.

You should apply if you have

  • Ideally completed banking apprenticeship and ideally a successful degree in economics,
  • Professional experience in corporate client banking, corporate treasury, cash management and/or corporate customer service, especially in an international context, is of added value,
  • Confident appearance in front of customers and management as well as a strong customer orientation and a strong communication personality with highly developed social and negotiation skills,
  • Willingness to develop a network of contacts in the venture capital (VC) industry through pro-active prospecting, attending conferences, meeting with VC investors and entrepreneurs.
  • An independent and result-oriented way of working as well as a very good time and project management, resilience, mediation skills and enthusiasm,
  • Good PC skills (MS Office),
  • Willingness to embrace technical and innovation developments,
  • Fluency in written and verbal professional English is mandatory,
  • Fluency in German language will be a plus.
