Your mission:
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer, Business Operations Intelligence, to help us build a world-class data platform, that supports key functions across the organization. This includes delivering stable, critical reporting for stakeholders in Finance, Operations, and other business units, as well as developing central data models that empower analytics and data products to drive data-driven decisions and use cases organization-wide.
In this role, you will enhance our data platform by implementing tools and practices that improve data quality and efficiency in decision-making. You will collaborate closely with our engineering, finance, analytics, data science and business operations teams leveraging top-notch analytics tools, promoting data discoverability, and working on reporting solutions, data pipelines, data storage, and more.
Your toolkit:
- Lead the architecture, design, and optimization of our data platform, enabling scalable data solutions that power critical business operations and advanced analytics across the organization.
- Build and enhance robust data pipelines and infrastructure to support not only reporting, but also machine learning and automation use cases.
- Develop and manage core data models that serve as the foundation for both operational and analytical workloads, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high performance.
- Drive data discoverability and accessibility, leveraging AI and advanced tools to empower users and accelerate innovation throughout the business.
- Collaborate with business partners, data analysts, data scientists and product managers to integrate new data sources, modernize existing pipelines, and support strategic data initiatives that go beyond traditional reporting.
- Mentor and guide team members and peers to foster growth and collaboration within the organization.
What sets you apart:
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a data role (BI, Data Engineering, and related areas), including data warehousing and analytics tools, techniques, and technologies.
- Data Engineering: Expertise with SQL & OLAP, developing data pipelines and data models, and experience organizing and querying data at scale in data warehouses (such as Delta, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL) while ensuring data quality, accuracy, and reliability. Proficiency with DBT for data modeling and transformation, along with familiarity with tools like Hadoop or Spark.
- Reporting & Insights: Knowledgeable in data visualization concepts using business intelligence reporting tools (Looker, Tableau, Jupyter Notebooks).
- Software Engineering: Strong fundamentals in Computer Science with a polyglot mindset. Proficient in Python (and comfortable with Java or Scala) and capable of working with various programming languages. Passionate about delivering clean code and exploring new tools, languages, and practices.
- Business Experience: Ability to prioritize and manage stakeholders; known for good communication and collaboration skills.
- Autonomy: Autonomous, proactive, and customer-oriented mindset. Takes ownership of projects.
- Teamwork: Believes that a team is more than the sum of its members. Finds mentoring and sharing knowledge fulfilling.
Nice to have:
- Financial reporting, including implementing and rolling out complex financial metrics, managing data dependencies, ensuring audit readiness, and enabling scalable reporting solutions.
- Data governance, including implementing frameworks, defining policies, ensuring compliance, and improving data quality and accessibility across the organization.
- Big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Hive, Hadoop).
- Data manipulation tools and libraries (e.g., PySpark, Pandas, R).
