The Department Accelerator Operation and Technology is looking for
Senior Developer (f/m/d) for the Accelerator Control System
Your Tasks
- Strategic: You drive the long-term and strategic development of the EPICS based control system for the accelerators at the HZB Adlershof site, via decisions on software and hardware. In collaboration with the team lead, you shape the future of our control systems.
- Coordinating: As deputy team lead, you coordinate projects and work related to device integration, in close collaboration with the team lead.
- Developing: You develop drivers, software, and tools independently or supervise their implementation by other developers in the team, with a focus on integrating new devices.
- Networking: You participate in international open-source projects, such as the EPICS collaboration, to further develop the frameworks used by HZB. You present results at international conferences to strengthen your personal and HZB's network.
- Practical: You occasionally participate in the operation of the accelerator and thus have a direct connection to the application of our product.
- You have a Master's/Diploma degree in Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field of study, with ideally several years of professional experience.
- You are proficient in the application of relevant programming languages and techniques (e.g., C, C++, and Python, as well as network-based or serial device communication).
- You have experience in implementing software projects, ideally as project lead or in an agile team.
- You have experience with a SCADA framework, ideally in the context of large scientific facilities or preferably EPICS.
- You are willing to occasionally travel for conference visits (approx. once a year).
