As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you take end-to-end ownership of production machine learning systems. You build scalable prediction pipelines, operate them in production, and continuously improve their performance using real-world feedback.

Activities

In this role, you will build and operate machine learning systems that support real-world operational processes. You will take ownership of the full lifecycle – from data and modeling to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

You will work closely with engineering, data, and product teams to integrate prediction systems into a scalable, production-ready environment.

Your responsibilities:

• Develop and improve machine learning models for predictive use cases
• Build and maintain robust training and prediction pipelines
• Process and structure complex, real-world datasets
• Evaluate model performance and ensure reliable results in production
• Monitor models and data for performance issues and drift
• Continuously improve models based on production feedback and new data
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate ML systems into existing architectures
• Contribute to the design and evolution of our ML and data infrastructure

Requirements

Must-have:

• Several years of experience in applied machine learning or a comparable role
• Strong Python skills and experience with common ML libraries
• Proven experience building and operating machine learning systems in production
• Strong software engineering skills with a focus on clean, maintainable, and testable code
• Experience with version control, code reviews, and collaborative development workflows
• Solid understanding of data analysis, feature engineering, and model evaluation
• Experience working with real-world, imperfect datasets
• Ability to take ownership of ML systems end-to-end

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with cloud environments (e.g. Google Cloud Platform)
• Familiarity with MLOps practices (e.g. pipelines, monitoring, retraining)
• Experience with large-scale data processing (e.g. SQL, data warehouses)
• Understanding of distributed systems or event-driven architectures
• Exposure to optimization or decision-support systems
• Experience with backend development or API design
• Experience working in cross-functional product teams

You will join a highly experienced, cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, and designers working on complex, real-world problems.

The team combines strong expertise in backend and frontend engineering, data, and system design. We work closely together, with a strong focus on pragmatic solutions, ownership, and high engineering standards.

We value direct communication, fast decision-making, and a collaborative environment where ideas are openly discussed and challenged.

You can work mostly remotely, while we regularly meet in Berlin to collaborate in person, align on key topics, and spend time together as a team.
