Team mission
As the Senior UX Manager of Comparison, you will lead a small team of product designers, content designers, and researchers. The Comparison team is a new strategic area of the business focused on our category verticals of our activities, like adventure tours or shows and events. This team will explore deepening our understanding of specific categories, distinct UX formats they need, and how we can best merchandise key information to our travelers. This will include how travelers make key decisions through social proof, developing proprietary data models, and all of the options available for the activities.
Your mission
- Lead and manage a team of 4-5 designers, with 1 content designers and 1 researcher dotted line into the business
- Enable the design team to execute Comparison’s overall strategy and vision
- Develop relationships, strategize and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and leads across PM, engineering, UX, UX research, Engineering, and Data analytics to problem solve and look at the user experience and customer journeys, end-to-end
- Help designers on the team with career milestones and performance goals
- Drive short-term execution and long-term vision for how our travelers compare activities across web and native platforms
- Champion operational excellence in how the team ships and iterates - balancing high craft with speed and impact.
- Uphold a high bar of product quality and design craft through participating in design reviews, cross-functional project discussions and frequently raising quality improvements
Your toolkit
- 8+ years previous experience leading and managing a team of at least 4-6 designers for consumer products
- 4+ years previous experience as a design manager with scope including leading designers and responsible for at least 2 verticals with a high level of complexity and ambiguity resulting in measurable impact results
- Experience working in fast-paced environments, solving ambiguity through structured design thinking and frameworks. Demonstrate the ability to take projects from zero to one.
- Past experience as a senior designer working on B2C and/or B2B product experiences
- Experience working with test and algo-driven products. Deep understanding of an experimentation-driven design process.
- Top-notch design craft and ability to rapidly ideate and produce design concepts
- Top communication skills to clearly articulate and defend your design while making trade-offs with complex product and policy definitions.
- Ability to wear a PM hat by influencing product strategies while balancing ideal visions vs. execution path to business impact.
- An entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, and drive clarity that brings the user, technology, and business together into an actionable roadmap
- Communicating with multiple levels of stakeholders, including senior leadership
