The Leibniz Institute for Crystal Growth (IKZ) is a leading research institution in the field of science & technology as well as service & transfer of crystalline materials. Our goal is to enable solutions for pressing societal challenges (e.g. communication, artificial intelligence, climate protection, health, etc.) through modern electronic & photonic technologies. The work covers the entire spectrum from basic and applied research to pre-industrial development and is carried out in cooperation with national and international partners from universities, academies and industry. The institute is part of the Forschungsverbund Berlin ( https://www.fv-berlin.de/ ) and a member of the Leibniz Association ( https://www.leibniz-gemeinschaft.de ).

At IKZ we are running our own instance with a lot of plugins for storing the data from our growth experiments, the characterization of the samples and numerical calculations.

Now we are looking for someone to write plugins/parsers for the data produced in the project HISOKI. On one hand data will be produced by in-situ measurements of the Herbertsmithite crystal growth at SIMaP (CNRS) in Grenoble, on the other hand we have data from atomistic calculations performed at IKZ.

The applicant must have the following minimum qualification :

  • The candidate must be a registered student at a German university

In addition, some of the following skills and qualifications would be preferred:

  • Basic knowledge in digitalization, meta data
  • Basic knowledge in material science

What we offer:

This gives you the opportunity to gain insight into the daily work of materials scientists very early on in your career. The position is considered a student mini-job with ca. 9 working hours per week at an hourly salary of 14,84 €.
