Über diesen Job
Intro
We’re hiring a UAV Control Engineer to lead the design, development, and real-world deployment of advanced flight control systems. You’ll work at the convergence of control theory, embedded systems, and field robotics, enabling ultra-reliable autonomy in dynamic, GPS-denied environments.
You’ll own everything from rate control to system-level robustness - building the core flight stack and pushing the boundaries of what autonomous UAVs can do in contested and extreme conditions.
This is a deeply technical, hands-on role: you’ll tune control loops, write embedded C++, and test everything in simulation and on real vehicles, alongside hardware and autonomy teams.
Tasks
- Design, implement, and tune robust flight control systems (rate, attitude, velocity, position loops)
- Work directly with PX4, ArduPilot, or custom real-time control stacks
- Develop failsafe systems, recovery strategies, and redundancy for high-stakes missions
- Integrate and configure MAVLink, telemetry, and GCS communications (QGC, Mission Planner)
- Apply advanced control methods — PID, LQR, MPC, and adaptive control — to real UAV platforms
- Optimize system stability across flight modes, payloads, and environmental disturbances
- Participate in hands-on flight testing, vehicle bring-up, system tuning, and rapid iteration
- Collaborate closely with AI, perception, and mechatronics teams for full-stack autonomy
Requirements
- 4–8+ years of hands-on experience developing and tuning UAV flight control systems
- Deep understanding of flight dynamics and control theory (fixed-wing and/or multirotor)
- Strong experience with PX4, ArduPilot, or similar autopilot platforms
- Proficiency in embedded C/C++ for control software development
- Familiarity with MAVLink protocols and telemetry system integration
- Demonstrated experience with UAV testing, tuning, and flight ops (lab and field)
- Ability to design for fault tolerance, redundancy, and mission-critical reliability
Bonus Points For:
- FPV pilot or UAV hobbyist with deep hands-on flight experience
- Experience with software-in-the-loop (SIL) or hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation
- Knowledge of ESC/motor tuning, thrust modeling, or mechanical control integration
- Exposure to adaptive control, learning-based control, or hybrid autonomy systems
- Background in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability robotics sectors
Benefits
- Be part of a mission to reinvent autonomy for real-world impact
- Build next-gen flight systems in a custom-built robotics lab (Berlin TXL)
- Work with bleeding-edge tools and interdisciplinary experts
- Competitive salary + meaningful equity
- Full-time, on-site role with a focus on rapid iteration and deployment
Closing
You’re not just tuning parameters - you’re building systems that must work. You thrive in fast-moving environments where precision, reliability, and ingenuity are non-negotiable. Whether it’s debugging a motor fault at midnight or flight-testing an experimental control stack, you bring the drive to get autonomous systems off the ground - and keep them flying.
