Requirements for companies and their business partners to respect human rights and environmental standards are increasing worldwide. To support partner countries in effectively responding to the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the European Commission and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) have launched the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) "Sustainability in Global Value Chains”.
As part of this initiative, the project is establishing the EU Due Diligence Navigator for Partner Countries, an EU helpdesk that provides stakeholders in partner countries with free, tailored advisory services. Through the Navigator, governments, businesses, civil society organisations and other stakeholders can receive individual guidance and recommendations on suitable support measures to help them respond to CSDDD requirements.
The Navigator’s advisory team combines expertise in human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) with experience working with stakeholders in partner countries. The goal is to support stakeholders in partner countries to become 'fit for CSDDD' and for related EU regulations. During the current phase of the Navigator, strong communication and outreach efforts are essential to raise awareness of the helpdesk and reach its target groups in partner countries.
