Systems Engineer (m/f/d) - Navigation Satellites

At OHB’s Navigation Directorate, we are shaping the future of satellite-based navigation and timing through bold ideas and cutting-edge technologies. Our teams work on advanced architectures and innovative concepts that will enable secure, precise, and resilient navigation services for tomorrow. In this position, you will contribute to a pioneering program in its early design phases, focused on developing and validating breakthrough technologies such as optical communication and ultra-precise timing techniques. This is your opportunity to make a real impact - helping transform visionary concepts into operational systems. You’ll work in an environment where creativity, collaboration, and innovation drive success, and where your expertise helps define the next generation of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) solutions.

Your Tasks

  • Define system-level requirements, architecture, and technical budgets
  • Perform trade-offs, feasibility studies, and risk assessments
  • Manage requirement flow-down and ensure compliance at subsystem level
  • Coordinate interfaces across spacecraft, payload, and ground segments
  • Prepare technical documentation for major design reviews
  • Support planning for AIT and future operational phases
  • Define and review system-level test specifications and verification plans
  • Maintain spacecraft databases and simulators
  • Collaborate with subsystem engineers, and European suppliers
  • Contribute to technical risk management and system validation activities

Your Qualifications

  • You hold a degree in Aerospace Engineering, Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • You bring experience in satellite projects, ideally in system engineering and early phases (A/B1)
  • You thrive in an innovative environment, are proactive, and enjoy solving complex challenges
  • You can work independently while coordinating effectively within a diverse team
  • You communicate confidently in English (written and spoken); German or other languages are a plus
  • You are curious, solution-oriented, and eager to contribute to next-generation navigation technologies
