Our client is a commercial-stage specialty pharmaceutical company dedicated to improving patient access to orphan medicines across Europe. Their mission is to ensure that patients suffering from rare diseases receive innovative treatments, regardless of their location.

The company collaborates with research-based biopharmaceutical originators, offering end-to-end commercialization and distribution partnerships to unlock the full potential of orphan medicines in European markets. By acquiring, licensing, or distributing approved or late-stage medicines, the company navigates the complexities and costs associated with bringing these treatments to diverse European countries.

The Associate Medical Director is a crucial part of the Medical Affairs Team and provides a bridge between clinical development, medical affairs and the commercial organization at a senior mastery level. He/she will be involved in a wide range of activities for all inline and pipeline products. This is a very diverse role and a unique opportunity where you can cover the whole spectrum of medical affairs activities in various therapeutic specialty areas.

• Participate in relevant cross-functional medical planning, working groups and task forces
• Ensure the proper pre-medical and medical review of medical materials prior to submission for official review and approval
• Demonstrate medical and scientific expertise to core business strategy and marketing/business development plans, strongly contributing to the development and update of the strategic medical plans
• Support advisory board meetings and investigator meetings. Provide support for content development and deliver clinical presentations at medical meetings
• Account for congress medical communication activities
• Identify and engage with internal and external experts when appropriate, for participation in medical communications as well as consultants for content development, if necessary
• Respond to and document unsolicited requests for information on company products and pipeline

• MD, PharmD or PhD in life sciences
• Long standing experience in the pharmaceutical industry, in the field of nice indications
• Expertise in hematology/ oncology and nephrology is a strong plus
• 5 years of relevant working experience in similar roles
• Proven track record in preparing for product launches and successful life cycle management
• Analytical mind setting, entrepreneurial approach, hands-on mentality
• Excellent communication skills, can-do attitude
• Ability to work independently and effectively in complex, rapidly changing environments
• Sense of urgency and interested in new ways of thinking and innovative approaches
• Ability to effectively interact with colleagues in a cross-functional network and to work closely with external physicians and scientists
• Flexibility, diplomacy, and the ability to manage expectations
• Ability to travel up to 50% of working time
• Fluency in German and English (both written and spoken)
