Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled SAR Image Processing Development Engineer to join our team with a primary focus on designing and developing a SAR image simulator . The selected candidate will contribute to the development of algorithms and software implementation, playing a key role in enhancing our SARscape processing suite and supporting both commercial and research projects.
This role involves designing and implementing core algorithms and kernels for SAR image and signal processing , focusing on C/C++ library development for integration into SARscape. It does not involve building workflows using existing market-available libraries.
A strong background in Electromagnetic and SAR theories , problem-solving, and teamwork is essential. This is a full-time, on-site position within an international and multidisciplinary environment , comprising signal processing engineers, GIS experts, environmental scientists, software developers, and computer and data scientists.
Note: This position is not for SAR-InSAR Processing, Quality Control, or Remote Sensing analysis experts. Strong software algorithm development skills are mandatory.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
As a SAR Image and Signal Processing Development Engineer at sarmap, you will be at the forefront of technological advancements. Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the design and implementation of a physics-based SAR image simulator, in collaboration with the computer science team to develop highly effective software solutions.
- Cooperate with the team developing and Automated Target Recognition package.
Required Technical Skills:
We are looking for a talented professional with the following expertise:
- At least 5 years of experience in SAR Image and Signal Processing, software development and high frequency computational electromagnetics.
- Familiarity with applied electromagnetics modelling (e.g., ray tracing, scattering models).
- Strong knowledge of C/C++, IDL .
- Experience with dedicated software such as ENVI-SARscape or similar tools is appreciated.
- Familiarity with GPGPU programming (OpenCL, CUDA) is a plus.

The ideal candidate should also demonstrate:

- Flexibility in adapting to evolving technical challenges.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills , both within multidisciplinary teams and with clients.
- Willingness to travel internationally for meetings when required.
Required Education:
To excel in this role, you should have:
- MSc or PhD in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Experience in SAR-InSAR technology is a plus.
Languages:
- Good knowledge of English (both spoken and written) is required.
- Knowledge in Italian is an advantage.
