Über diesen Job
Place of work: Production site, near Chemnitz, Germany Start date: ASAP Contract type: Full-time
About us
We are an early-stage biotech company based in Leipzig, using fermentation to produce sustainable protein for the food industry. Our production takes place in an industrial setting using large fermentation vessels, food-grade equipment, and established manufacturing processes.
Currently, we are scaling our production and are looking for a Process Operator (m/w/d) to support the day-to-day facility operations at our production site in Chemnitz area.
The role
In this role, you will support the operations of our fermentation facility and all related processing steps. You will work closely with a Senior Process Lead and will be trained on our equipment, processes, and quality standards.
The role is strongly hands-on and operational, with a focus on running equipment, preparing materials, and supporting production. Working hours are initially within typical daytime working hours; as production scales, openness to late and occasional weekend shifts is valued.
Your main tasks
- Preparation of fermentation media (weighing, mixing, heating, handling raw materials)
- Operating fermentation tanks and auxiliary equipment
- Monitoring basic process parameters (e.g. temperature, time, filling levels)
- Cleaning and sanitising equipment (CIP systems and manual cleaning)
- Supporting downstream processing (emptying tanks, handling and processing biomass)
- Maintaining cleanliness, order, and safety in the facility
- Documenting basic production activities and flagging issues when they arise
Your profile
- Practical experience in food & beverage or similar manufacturing environments
- Comfortable working in a production setting with physical tasks and machinery
- Careful, reliable, and quality-oriented working style
- Interest in food production and fermentation processes
- Ability to work well in a small team and communicate clearly on the shop floor
- Basic working knowledge of German or English
Nice to have
- Experience in a brewery, dairy or fermentation-based production
- Technical or vocational training in a relevant field
- Familiarity with hygiene standards and food safety practices
- Experience with CIP systems or industrial cleaning routines
What we offer
- A full-time role with clear responsibilities and growth opportunities
- 28 days of paid holiday per year
- Subsidy for the Germany Ticket ("Deutschland-Ticket”)
- Hands-on training and close collaboration with experienced colleagues
How to apply
A short CV/brief overview of your previous work experience is sufficient.
