Job description:
The GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt operates one of the leading particle accelerators for science. Currently, the new FAIR ( F acility for A ntiproton and I on R esearch) one of the world's largest research projects, is under construction through international cooperation. Electrical Engineer for Quality Assurance (all genders)

Your responsibilities:
- Ensure the quality assurance of electrotechnical components of the FAIR facility during both construction and operation
- Monitor compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and safety requirements; approve or block components as part of the QA process
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality assurance measures and objectives, including tracking deviations and initiating corrective actions
- Review quality-relevant documents (e.g. specifications, contracts, test plans, conformity reports) and support acceptance testing (FDR, FAT, SAT)
- Participate in design reviews and acceptance tests; provide QA support for the assembly, testing, and documentation of electrotechnical systems (e.g. switchgear, RF systems, magnet systems)
- Design and implementation of quality assurance measures for the commissioning of the FAIR facility
- Work closely with the responsible electrical specialist (G-VEFK) and support both internal and external development teams throughout all project phases…
Your profile :
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable qualification, with relevant professional experience in the field
- Initial experience in quality management and quality assurance methods (e.g. audits, FMEA), and either familiarity with standards and regulations (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 13849, DIN-VDE, EMC Directive) or basic knowledge with the willingness to deepen it
- Knowledge of software development or automation technology is an advantage
- Knowledge and experience in documentation as well as in the processes of acceptance testing and commissioning of electrical systems and installations are desirable
- Experience in working with suppliers, intercultural competence, and willingness to undertake occasional business travel
- Strong analytical and process-oriented thinking, with a structured and solution-driven approach
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey quality assurance requirements
- Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken
- High attention to detail, confident demeanor, and strong methodological and social competence

The position is permanent . The salary and benefits are based on the Collective Agreement for the German Public Service (TVöD-Bund) effective at GSI.
