We are looking for a Junior Spacecraft Operations Engineer to join our mission operations team for various earth and science observation satellites. If you love space as much as we do, then you will support our team in everyday spaceraft operations and develop further by automating operations and taking care of the spacecraft health. Willingness to “roll up their sleeves” while simultaneously planning for scale is critical to success with this role!

What you'll be doing (job duties)
- You will support spacecraft engineering activities for interplanetary missions, working closely with the mission’s Operations Manager, science team, project management, and flight software development team.
- Familiarisation with the mission characteristics and supporting the operational analyses of the mission.
- Support to the porting, development, integration and validation of the ground systems and facilities required for including all elements of the mission data systems.
- Maintain and develop operational procedures and tools used in spacecraft operations for our planetary exploration missions.
- Prepare and validate nominal and contingency procedures for flight and for spacecraft testing on ground
- Support in-flight operations, including nominal, critical, contingency and on-call support
- Participate in pre-launch and post-launch activities, including validation of procedures and data analysis.
- Monitor and analyse spacecraft telemetry, and use that data to make decisions about the spacecraft's health and safety in real-time.
What we look for in you (job requirements)
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in spacecraft operations, preferably with a focus on planetary exploration.[ML1]
- Experience with mission planning, spacecraft commanding, trending, and analysis.
- Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, including telecommunications, power, propulsion, attitude control and guidance, and instruments.
- Strong proficiency with scripting language development (Python, Bash, Groovy), repository-based software development..
- Aspiration to take operational responsibility in multi-discipline teams and areas
- Ability to work independently, openness and reliability
- Proficiency in English, both in speech and writing
