As the Offshore Global Chief Engineer - Wind Turbine Technology, you will hold a pivotal role, serving as highest technical authority within the organisation for wind turbine systems. You will define and execute the global turbine engineering strategy, set technical standards across the full project lifecycle, make complex technical decisions which add value to the business and set industry benchmarks.
This role combines strategic vision with deep technical knowledge, enabling you to guide the advancement of offshore wind engineering while acting as a key advisor to senior leadership. Competency development, best practice sharing and standardisation in the respective discipline Wind Turbine Engineering will be a key task of this role combined with establishing an internal and external network collaborating with the industry and serving as external representation for.
About the role
- Global Technical Authority: Manage the wind turbine engineering discipline globally, providing strategic guidance, technical oversight, and escalation support across all project phases
- Executive Advisory: Serve as a principal technical advisor to the executive team, shaping strategic decisions and long-term technology investments
- Standardisation & Governance: Define and enforce global engineering standards, specifications, and procedures aligned with safety, innovation, and business objectives
- Innovation Leadership: Promote advanced technical solutions and innovation initiatives to optimise LCOE and enhance competitive advantage
- Talent Development: Own the technical career path (TCP) for wind turbine engineering, mentoring senior engineers and guiding technical leadership development
- Industry Contribution: Represent the company in external forums, shaping industry standards and improving our reputation for engineering excellence
- Cross-Functional Integration: Functionally lead a team of turbine lead experts supporting Development, Construction, and Operations, ensuring technical consistency and delivery excellence
- Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate on innovation initiatives with internal R&D teams and external partners, enhancing project outcomes and operational performance
Job requirements and experience
- University / Postgraduate (Master’s Degree) or bachelor’s degree in combination with completed vocational training in the Wind Turbine Engineering area
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in respective technical discipline
- Experience considered Advantageous: Planning and managing delivery of complex projects; Supervision and/or coaching junior colleges
- Profound strategic understanding of the Offshore Wind business and the related technology developments related to the discipline Wind Turbine Engineering
- Ability to analyse, understand and solve complex technical issues
- Subject matter specialist with an in-depth understanding of current and emerging technologies, external regulation, and industry best practices
- Flexibility and willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis
- Business fluent English language skills
