The opportunity
Arup is seeking an experienced Software Development Team Leader (f/m/d) to provide technical and organizational leadership for our multidisciplinary team in the areas of software, data, AI, and UX. You will support the Digital Service Lead in the strategic direction and business development of digital projects in the construction industry. Your primary responsibility will be to manage project execution and the development of digital solutions, focusing on agile implementation within the team. You will foster an innovative, learning-oriented team culture and contribute in-depth technological expertise that is constantly aligned with the latest technological developments, thus making a decisive contribution to sustainably strengthening Arup's success.
As Team Lead Development Software, AI, Data at Arup you will:
- Take responsibility for the conception and implementation of digital projects and product innovations with a focus on the construction industry, with a focus on the further development of the service portfolio in the areas of digitalization, automation and integration.
- You develop and promote innovative digital solutions using agile, data-driven, and AI-based working methods, and optimize decision-making processes and collaboration between different stakeholders.
- You will support business development by identifying new potential and participating in tender processes to design integrated, future-proof, and sustainable digital services for complex construction projects. Digital twins and BIM (Building Information Modeling) play a key role in holistically linking physical assets, technical systems, and business processes, thus enabling new dimensions in planning and management.

We are looking for colleagues who are passionate about digital solutions for buildings, industrial facilities, and infrastructure development. To successfully fill this position, the following professional qualifications are required:
- Master's degree in computer science, computer science, engineering or a comparable qualification with a focus on software development, IT consulting or digitalization in an industrial environment, ideally the construction industry.
- You have already gained experience in leading cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams at project level.
- Agility is a lived practice that allows you to effectively ensure development processes and customer orientation.
- Practical knowledge of cloud technologies, the development of scalable solutions, databases, experience in DevOps, test automation, version management and quality assurance, etc.
- Experience with common, state-of-the-art AI tools and the development of AI applications, as well as initial experience in advising customers on AI topics.
- Experience with software applications for large industrial customers (enterprise level),
- Ideally, there will be initial experience with the digitalization of industrial processes or similar complex environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
- Very good German language skills (at least level C1) and fluent English are essential.
- You have strategic thinking skills and want to use your abilities to proactively develop new business potential.
- You are characterized by a strong sense of responsibility, quality, and urgency, as well as your commitment. You are a team player and an ambassador for our company.
