Are you passionate about cutting-edge cybersecurity and eager to shape the future of edge computing? Join us in Garching as a Working Student (f/m/d) – Confidential Computing for Edge Platforms and bring your ideas to life alongside innovative researchers from around the world!

You'll make an impact by

  • You support the team in evaluating frameworks and tools that enable "Lift & Shift" of applications to run in Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs)
  • Building on this, you help develop proof-of-concepts for edge platforms to demonstrate confidential computing capabilities in practical scenarios
  • Additionally, you analyze the real-time performance of confidential workloads on edge devices by measuring latency and jitter
  • To share your findings, you assist in preparing and presenting POCs at internal conferences and stakeholder meetings

This is how you'll win us over

  • Education : You are currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience and Skills :
    • You possess knowledge of operating system concepts and Linux systems programming
    • You have prior academic or industrial experience with Linux systems programming and container technologies such as Docker
    • You are available for a part-time working student position for at least 6 months
  • Ways of Working : You demonstrate strong motivation to learn, work collaboratively in a dynamic team, and have excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Languages : You have very good English skills

About Us

At Siemens Technology, we develop the next-generation technologies that power the future of industrial automation, smart infrastructure and mobility, healthcare, and more. Located in the Technical University of Munich Campus, Garching, Siemens Technology Center offers an ideal environment for industry-academia collaboration. We are looking for students to join our edge computing research team to ensure IP- and copy-protection and safeguard data in use for an AI-first edge infrastructure. The students will get an opportunity to work on cutting-edge confidential computing technologies including hardware-assisted trusted execution environments (TEEs), confidential containers, confidential virtual machines, and remote attestation. The team will adapt state-of-the-art confidential computing frameworks for edge platforms and develop proofs-of-concept (PoCs) together with Siemens internal stakeholders.
