The regional project "Accelerating the Energy Transition in Africa” supports key strategic objectives of the African Union (AU), particularly in promoting renewable energy, continental interconnectivity of power systems and power sector planning, as well as expanding energy access. It also makes an important contribution to strengthening the coherence and interlinkages of existing German Technical Cooperation (TC) and Financial Cooperation (FC) portfolios (bilateral, regional, and global), thereby enhancing the overall effectiveness of Germany’s contributions to the energy transition in Africa. ENGAGE is embedded in the policy dialogue under the Africa–EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) and contributes to the strategic orientation of the Team Europe Initiative "Africa–EU Green Energy Initiative” (AEGEI). The implementation logic of the regional programme follows an integrated approach in close cooperation with the global project "Global Energy Transition Programme (GET.pro)”, the regional project "Integrated Corridors for Economic Growth in Africa (InCORE)”, and the global project "Energising Development (EnDev)”.
